Obsession Perfection: The Airstream Pendleton Special Edition Travel Trailer

Anyone else as excited as I am over the 2016 Airstream Pendleton Special Edition travel trailer?

Two timeless American brands, Airstream and Pendleton Woolen Mills, have come together for the first time to pay tribute to our nation's parks and to great outdoor adventure. Coinciding with the centennial of the National Park Service, Airstream proudly introduces the 2016 Limited Edition Pendleton National Park Foundation travel trailer. (PRNewsFoto/Airstream)

This partnership is so perfect, I can’t believe it hasn’t happened before now.

Airstream and Pendleton Woolen Mills are two outdoor classics. Both have built distinctive brands that are not only recognizable in and of themselves, but that are synonymous with camping and our national parks. This is why it’s so fitting that the two companies have joined forces to celebrate the centennial of the National Park Service … beautifully, I might add.

The Airstream Pendleton Limited Edition is truly limited — they’re producing only 100 of these travel trailers (paying tribute to 100 years of the National Park Service). For each unit sold, Airstream will donate $1,000 to the National Park Foundation (the National Park Service’s official charitable partner), and they’re throwing in a one-year America the Beautiful – The National Parks and Federal Recreation Land Pass.

I’ve been obsessed with both Airstreams and Pendleton blankets since I started camping with Jason. The wool blanket obsession started during our first trip to Yosemite when the seemingly thin wool blankets in our tent cabin kept me warmer than I could have ever imagined. Warm AND beautiful wool Pendleton blankets … what’s not to love?!

I don’t know that an Airstream travel trailer will ever be right for our family for several reasons. But I can definitely appreciate their beauty and place in Americana.

Jason and I recently attended our first camper and RV show in Madison. No Airstreams, but it was interesting to explore so many camper models in one shot. And while we’ll be in our current travel trailer for many, many years to come, I made note of things we’d look for in a future camper. And it can’t hurt to dream of something as beautiful as this Airstream.

Anyways, I just had to express my love for the Pendleton Airstream. Bravo to both brands — you created a classic in its own right.

Question:

Do you have an Airstream and/or Pendleton obsession like I do?

Things I'm Loving

Things I’m Loving Thursday

How are you doing this week? I’m enjoying the fall weather that has hit Wisconsin. I’m ready for my favorite season!

Then there’s today – Jason and I are up to something very exciting! You’ll learn all about it next week. In the meantime, here are things I’m loving this week.

I’m loving Hank the Ballpark Pup!

Have you hear about Hank? Hank was found as a stray dog near the Milwaukee Brewers’ spring training camp in February. He was injured and hungry, so the team’s third base coach got him some food and took him to the vet. Hank (named after Hank Aaron) stayed with the team for the remainder of training camp, and a Brewers’ staff member adopted him when it was time to leave for Wisconsin.

Hank is now a star with the Brewers organization, and he’s opened up an incredible partnership opportunity with the Wisconsin Humane Society. Jason scored us tickets to Wisconsin Humane Society Day at Miller Park, which featured a Hank bobblehead (above). It was a fun day of celebrating two things I love – Wisconsin sports and dogs!

Check out the Brewers’ Hank the #BallparkPup board on Pinterest for Hank adorableness.

I’m loving hats!

For as long as I can remember, I have hated hats. Even during Wisconsin winters, I would steadfastly refuse to wear a hat.

Well, I’ve changed my tune. During last winter’s freezing cold temperatures, I caved and wore a hat anytime I needed to go outside. Turns out, I underestimated myself in hats.

Naturally, I had to pick up a Brewers’ hat at the game.

I’m loving my new glasses!

Up until two years ago, I had never been to the eye doctor. But after a pathetic visit to the DMV to get my license renewed a few years back, I realized that I was going to need to have my eyes checked. Two years ago, I had my first eye exam and got my first pair of glasses.

Jason and I were due for new glasses again, and we just got them last week. I went with a totally different look for my new glasses, and I am in LOVE! I’ve struggled to enjoy wearing my glasses, but I always want to wear my new ones.

I must say, it was rather enjoyable actually seeing the baseball game.

Question of the Day

Hats: Love them or hate them?

Things I’m Loving Thursday

After a week of being sick, I’m finally on the mend. I’m bummed that I was out of commission for the holiday weekend. I missed out on a trip to our county fair with our niece – I haven’t been to the fair in close to a decade. No big corn on the cob for me this year.

Luckily, I’m getting better just in time!

I’m loving the return of Badger Football!

Jason and I are super excited for our second year as Badger Football season ticket holders! Saturday is the first home game this season. Despite a disappointing loss last weekend, we have high hopes for the season.

I’m loving camper shopping!

It’s sad that Jason and I haven’t been camping in close to 4 years! Our last trip was a long weekend at Peninsula State Park with Bailey in 2010 (read here, here, and here).

One of the things holding us back is the sheer inconvenience of it. All of our gear is stored in our narrow-staircase basement. Because we don’t want to camp without the dogs and they take up the full back seat in our vehicle, we need to borrow my father-in-law’s small trailer. Finally, we both have to take off a full day or at least half a day in order to get anywhere good and set up the tent before dark.

We’ve been chatting here and there for a couple of years about investing in a camper, something we can just hook up and go at the end of a work week. Because of what our vehicle can tow, our options are limited (which, honestly, has been kind of helpful). We’re seriously considering a PaloMini travel trailer.

I’m loving my camper Pinterest board!

Since we’ve started seriously looking at campers, I’ve been a camper-idea-pinning maniac! I’ve pinned spacing-saving tips, dishes I want to buy, and decorating ideas. I would be going for a cozy, classic camp vibe inside, like this rustic Airstream:

Things I’m Loving Thursday

Our household has been hit by the summer flu. Jason was down and out most of last week. This week, I came down with a milder version of what Jason had. I’m writing this as I recover on the couch. Thank goodness for Law & Order: SVU marathons.

Here are three things I’m loving this week.

I am loving this pic of me in my Yosemite glory!

When Jason and I visited Yosemite National Park in June, we hiked out to Cathedral Lakes. Jason used the opportunity to capture another sneaky photo of me soaking in the Yosemite high country.

It’s my favorite picture since this one Jason took of me during our 2010 trip:

I’m loving my Pooch to 5K runs with Bailey!

After a two-year hiatus, I decided to start running again. I’ve done the Couch to 5K program a few times, so I’m trying something different this time: the Pooch to 5K program.

Pooch to 5K is a few weeks longer than Couch to 5K, and it’s obviously designed with your dog in mind. Bailey LOVES running. Minus a few mis-timed mid-run poops on Bailey’s part, she has done really well. I signed up for the Discover Whitewater Series 5K in September. While Bailey can’t run it with me, my training partner will be with me in spirit.

I’m loving the Nike Legend V-Neck Tees!

I wanted to pick up some new shirts before our trip out West. I stumbled upon the Nike Legend tees at DICK’S Sporting Goods. I picked up two, fell in love, and went back for more. I have the shirt in 5 colors — it’s available in almost the entire rainbow of colors.

You will see the shirt pop up in many of our trip photos.

What’s one thing you’re loving this week?

Things I'm Loving

Things I’m Loving Thursday

Who doesn’t love a good blogger list? Every week, I want to share what I’m really loving — things, people, places. You get the idea.

Welcome to my first Things I’m Loving Thursday!

I am loving this Wisconsin summer!

We have had the BEST weather in Wisconsin this summer! Daytime temps in the 70s. Low humidity. A few early morning runs where I could actually see my breath. Normally we only have this awesome weather for a week in the spring before it gets nasty hot and for a week in the fall before it gets freezing cold. I know some people wish it had been hotter this summer. I am not one of them.

I am loving the No-Fad Diet!

Jason and I are trying to get healthier together. We’re both eating better and working out more. One of my strategies has been to follow the American Heart Association’s No-Fad Diet. I purchased the book after learning about it at a Go Red for Women event last fall.

The No-Fad Diet book from the American Heart Association

I’m following the meal plans in the book, and it’s the first time I’ve successfully followed a meal plan. The options are meals I would actually eat outside of a “diet.” Even Jason, a notoriously picky eater, has liked all the dinner recipes I’ve made. It has made cleaning up my eating habits a lot easier and tastier at the same time.

I am loving old friends!

This summer, I have been so glad to see some of my great friends who are spread out around the country. In July, I was able to catch up with Ellen over lunch on her way through southern Wisconsin during her summer road trip. Ellen lives in Duluth, and we hadn’t seen each other in close to two years.

One of my best high school buddies, Kyle, invited Jason and I to a Brewers game during his summer vacation. Kyle lives in Texas, so I was pumped to spend a little time with him during his quick stop in Wisconsin.

Finally, I got to celebrate my best friend from college, Lisa, at her Wisconsin baby shower. Lisa and her husband, Patrick, moved to Alabama over a year ago. We miss them bunches.
